karimnagar district in telangana State | Tourist places & Mandals: Karimnagar district is in Telangana state. It is located 162 kilometers away from Hyderabad, 70 kilometers from Warangal and 150 kilometers from Nizamabad. It was formed in the year 1905, April. The Telangana State Road Transport Zonal headquarters of Adilabad, Nizamabad, Khammam and Karimnagar districts in Karimnagar. Karimnagar bus station is one of the major bus stations from which 2500 buses are operated.

Karimnagar district is divided into 57 revenue mandals. There are 13 assembly constituencies, four municipalities, two corporations, five revenue divisions and two Lok Sabha constituencies. The district shares its borders on three sides with Warangal,Medak, and Nizamabad. Telugu is the most spoken language in Karimnagar and Urdu is the second most spoken. Batukamma, Vinayaka Chaviti, Deepavali, Holi, Maha Shivaratri, Ugadi, Sankranthi, Ramzan and Bakrid festivals are celebrated grandly here. Though most of the population of Karimnagar belongs to Hindu religion, since it was ruled by Muslims before independence, there are also Muslims, Sikhs in the district.

This was once called the ‘Karinagaram’ since there were many elephants in this regions, it is said. Gradually it became Karimnagar. Earlier this was also called ‘Sabbinadu’. Historically, this region is ruled by five kingdoms. During the Nizam rule, this was the capital city. According to historians, the history of Karimnagar is around thousand years old.

Karimnagar was ruled by Sathavahanas, Vishnukundinis, Badami Chalukyas, Vemulavada Chalukyas, Kalyani Chalukyas, Kakatiyas, Qutubshahis, Delhi Mughlais, and Asafjahis. There are many tourist attractions in Karimnagar district.

 Elgandal fort is constructed on the banks of Maner River in the Kamareddy road 10 kilometers away from Karimnagar.

 Ujwala Park is one of the most visited places in Karimnagar.

 Rajiv deer park which is spread in 30 acres of land near the lower Maner reservoir is another most visited place.

 Vemulavada is a popular religious place and there is the temple of Rajarajeswara Swamy which was built by Chalukyas. This historical temple is visited by tourists from all corners of the state.

 Kaleswaram is another famous temple in Karimnagar district and this is situated at a distance of 125 kilometers from Karimnagar. River Godavari and Pranahita meet here.

 Jagityal Kondagattu Sri Anjaneya temple is another famous temple.

 Dharmapuri is another famous temple in Telangana. Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy can be seen as Yoga Narasimha and Ugra Narasimha here. The temple is situated on the banks of Godavari.
