Ranga Reddy District Profile | Ranga Reddy District Tourism :The district was named after KV Ranga Reddy who played a crucial role in fight against the Razakars. The district was formed in the year 1978 on 15th August. Ranga Reddy district shares its borders with Medak district in the north, Nalgonda district in east, Mahboobnagar district in south and Gulbarga on the west. The district is divided into 37 mandals in which four are urban mandals and 33 are rural mandals. There are east, Chevella and Vikarabad revenue divisions.

There are also 2 Lok Sabha constituencies and fourteen assembly constituencies in Ranga Reddy district. The major river that flows through this district is Musi River. The total area of the district is 7493 square kilometers. This is the second biggest district as far as area is concerned in Telangana.

Two rivers are flowing in the district but there are no major irrigation projects. Though there are Himayath Sagar and Osman Sagar lakes, these are mainly used for drinking water purposes. Ranga Reddy district is spread around the capital city of Telangana and so the district is connected with roads and railways. There is also one international airport in the district, which is Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.

Let us now know the Ranga Reddy history. Before independence, the regional around Hyderabad were called ‘Atraff E Balta’ district. This region was a part of Gulshanbad in Medak district. After 1948, this region became part of Hyderabad district. In 1978, Hyderabad urban and rural districts were formed and then are named as Ranga Reddy district.

Ranga Reddy district tourism also occupies a special place in Telangana tourism. There are many tourist attractions in the district. Anantha Padmanabha Swamy temple in Anantagiri has a great history. Chilkur Balaji temple that comes into the Ranga Reddy region is popular internationally as ‘Visa God Temple’. Karman Ghat temple in Saroor Nagar region is also very popular. Sri Ramalingeswara Swamy temple in Keesaragutta also attracts thousands of devotees on special occasions.

World famous Ramoji Film City is another tourist attraction spread in Hayathnagar mandal in Ranga Reddy district. More than two thousand films were shot in this already. Mount Opera resorts are also located near to Ramoji Film city. There are facilities such as swimming pool and this place is a perfect holiday spot for the whole family. Gandipeta Lake is another tourist attraction place in Ranga Reddy district. This is situated just 12 km away from Hyderabad. There are many resorts nearby.
